PROPOFOL WARNING | Staff at a major Perth Hospital have discovered black particles in a propofol 200mg/mL vial (Provive®, AFT Pharmaceuticals). These particles seem to be fixed to the inside surface of the glass container. The affected batch is A050415 and the expiry date is 03/18. The TGA and the company have been notified, however there is no official recall at this point. The identified vials have been returned to AFT for analysis.



VALE Dr Terry McAuliffe. Dr McAuliffe was an outstanding anaesthetist and administrator with a long and eminent career.  He trained in England, Australia and USA and worked in Australian and Saudi hospitals. He was Chair of ASA (WA), Faculty of Anaesthetists, RACS (WA) and Anaesthesia Mortality Committee of WA.  He was Head of Anaesthesia, Royal Perth (Rehabilitation) Hospital and then Fremantle Hospital. He rose to become Vice President of AMA (WA).  Terry was a respected clinician and established the first Acute Pain Service in WA.
